Calgary Arts Development Authority (“CADA”) is committed to safeguarding the personal information of individuals. This privacy statement outlines the practices we follow in protecting personal information and applies to CADA and to any person providing services on our behalf. However, this policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that CADA does not own or control, or to individuals that CADA does not employ or manage. A copy of this privacy statement will be provided to any person upon request.
Collection of Personal Information
We collect only the personal information that we need for the purpose of providing our services, including personal information needed to deliver requested products and services and send out information relating to InvestYYC. We normally collect personal information directly from the individual to whom it pertains. We may collect your information from other persons with your consent or as authorized by law. We inform individuals, before or at the time of collecting personal information, of the purposes for which we are collecting the information. The only time we don’t provide this notification is when information is volunteered for an obvious purpose (for example, if a person provides their email address for the purpose of receiving our newsletter).
In order for you to use InvestYYC services, such as making a donation to a project, you must complete a registration form. We require select personal information (including your full name, and e-mail address) as part of the form to enable proper operation of InvestYYC and the issuance of any tax receipts by Canadian Online Giving Foundation via the Benevity platform.
We receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us. CADA and its authorized agents automatically receive and record certain “traffic data” on their server logs from your browser including your IP address and the page you requested. CADA uses this traffic data to help diagnose problems with its servers, analyze trends and administer the website. CADA may collect and, on any page, display the total counts that page has been viewed. This includes User Profile pages.
CADA will send you emails relating to your personal transactions, project updates from project organizers and general InvestYYC notifications. You have the ability not to opt-in to receiving project updates and general notifications upon registration for InvestYYC. We may send you service-related announcements on rare occasions when it is necessary to do so.
We make every reasonable effort to prevent any loss, misuse, disclosure, or modification of personal information, as well as any unauthorized access to personal information. We use appropriate security measures when destroying personal information, including shredding paper records and permanently deleting electronic records.
All donation transactions use a secure server. To the extent you select the secure server method and your browser supports such functionality, all credit card information you supply is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. Regardless of these efforts by us, no data transmission over the public Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
Your InvestYYC account information is protected by a password for your privacy and security. Protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer by logging off once you have finished using a shared computer. We make every reasonable effort to ensure that personal information collected by us is accurate and complete. We rely on individuals to notify us if there is a change to their personal information that may affect their relationship with our organization. If you are aware of an error in our information about you, please let us know and we will correct it on request wherever possible. In some cases, we may ask for a written request for correction.
